Are you planning your own wedding?

If so, what are the problems you encounter during planning? Or is it better to get a wedding planner?

Yes if u n ur other half are to plan the whole wedding preparation urself, u will definitely meet with problems along the way.

Is normal n sometimes might lead to hot temper or even worse with a quarrl.

So always remain cool headed and keep encouraging each other to keep on trying even when meet with problems.

Do not give up halfway simply when u meet problems.

U need to identify n solve the problems encountered.

Think a comfortable period to prepare for the whole wedding takes 1 year, if shorten to 8 months, schedule will be quite tight n if is 6 months n lesser, u will find urself v v v stressed everyday cos the wedding date is too near n u have tons of things to prepare.

So advice is to plan ahead n set aside at least 1 yr to prepare for the wedding, if not 8 months the least.

    Just my two cents views.

Planning a wedding involves a massive amount of detail. Many of these details are critical to the success of the day. If you have the time and enough reliable help from friends and family members - some of whom should preferably have a knack for organizing large functions, you should be able to get it done. If not, appoint a wedding planner.

Your review doesn't look like coming from a genuine customer, by posting your blog's link over 14 topics in Wedding Forum to share is very much asking us not to go to one stop bridal shop, your motive? So we better switch to other service provider e.g Designer Boutique or stand alone photographer? Scratch the car in the car park just because your car workshop is near by? Your story in your blog is like those junk email we got telling us their sad story and ask us to contact them, they have few million US dollar to invest with you.....

I am still thinking about "TRUE or FALSE" of you and your story told. Worth trying here because it is free. Just my fair opinion here, don't mind. Oh yes, why a SALE person will ask a 17 year old boy to buy wedding package, knowing they hardly have more than $30 in their pocket, I will get a good scolding section from my boss if I wasting my time on a little boy, may be the sale person used to sale computer game.

    ????

p.s.I post this comment over 14 topic also

I decided to get a wedding planner for the following reasons:
    1. some wedding planners actually help u save cost
    2. they can source vendors for you.. for eg my hotel florist was crap, so she found me one she know will understand me and what i wanted and was able to accomplish my designs
    3. unless you really have a lot of free time or a relatively long period to plan for your wedding (i think a comfortable period is 1 yr), all i need is to make a suggestion and my planner does the rest, and follow-up with emails/sms..
    4. unless your family/ friends are really good coordinators
    5. me & my htb very different ideas at times, good to have a neutral party to advice
    6. i can be super anxious one.. good to have a calming voice of reason
    7. if you are super forgetful which i can be.. she gives me timely reminders
    8. i want to enjoy my big day, not running around worrying about this, worrying abt that, making cheques to vendors, calling to ensure things arrive on time, etc etc..

    heh..
dunno what i will do without her..

Hi secretfit, found myself nodding to your reasons for a wedding planner.

Just got engaged recently and am plunging myself into the world of wedding forums. It's mind boggling!

Do you mind telling me who your wedding planner was?

    Many thanks!

    Hi SPwedding!! Congrats!
Do you have a rough date yet? Budget?
Actually there are many wedding planners out there and their cost can range from anything from few thousand to ten thousand dollars! I guess it will depend on what are the specific services you will need.
For example, when I started planning my wedding I only had a date.. I couldn't find a venue I like, couldn't find a florist I like etc etc.. Also some of the wedding coordinators from hotels/ restaurants I came into contact with were either a bit unprofessional, or too busy, or cannot be very committed to you.. Which is not surprising as their pay is not paid by us and they are handling many weddings at any 1 time or they are very new & inexperienced.. The wedding coordinators from hotels have a shockingly high turnover rate.. So for me I took the full wedding planning package
Whereas my friend already individually found the venue and her other vendors already, all she needed was just someone to coordinate in her actual day..
    So different needs different prices

the other thing to note is that you need to find a wedding planner with experience..
It's not difficult to be a wedding planner, they just need to pay a few thousand dollars, attend a course, get a certificate then they can claim to be a wedding planner, so be sure to find one with experience, and better find one with a registered business license..
If they are registered business owners, they have to sign contract with you & all the terms & conditions will be stated very clearly in the contract to protect both parties..
